Four Places to Go and Things to Do to Meet New People

The instinctual desire to meet, date and mate is a global phenomenon.  Wherever people live, the biological prompt is the same.   Greeting, meeting, dating and mating are primary imperatives to the human experience.  This article shares four places (Meetups, First Fridays, Early Film Previews, and Community Celebrity Events) to go and things to do to meet new people for potential greeting, meeting, dating and mating.

Meetup Groups

Meetup formed in New York in 2001.  Meetup is an online portal where people sharing common interests gather to meet.  Co - Founder Scott Heiferman said Meetup provides strangers the opportunity to meet.  Review Meetup’s website to find meetings of interest near you.  If you do not find one that interests you, create one that does.  Post it and provide others opportunity to meet you.  Keep your eyes and heart open.  Your Meetup may prompt a dateup.  Visit Meetup.

First Fridays

First Friday is primarily a social event on the First Friday each month for networking among professionals in cities across America.  It is also occasion for high volume traffic for street level entertainment, visiting local bars and restaurants.  First Fridays provide a monthly economic boost while providing opportunity for many entrepreneurs and others opportunity to network.   Review local media for First Friday events near you.  Meet new people.  Make some new friends.  Build some new relationships.  Get a date.  Call it a meeting if you have to.

Early Film Previews

Consult local theaters to find out when they host pre-release events for upcoming feature films.  Get on their invitation lists for coming attractions that interest.  Some will be free.  Others will be at reduced costs.  After the film, you will gather in small groups to discuss your perception of the movie you previewed.  You will be with interesting people.  Get noticed.  Be witty and attention seeking.  You are in the greeting, meeting, dating and mating market.  Bonnie Raitt would say, “Give em something to talk about.”   Visit AMC.

Community Celebrity Events

Organizations, schools and local media host celebrity guest appearances that are free to the public.  Your favorite author, sports personality, actor, politician or entertainer may be the guest.  Attend these. Meet interesting people.  The celebrity is the hook to bring people together.  Go greet, meet, and get a date.  Who knows, you just may find your mate.

This list is not exhaustive.  Other choices include Sci – Fi, comic and anime gatherings.  Wear a costume.  Attend a professional sports event.  People are everywhere.  They want to greet, meet, date and mate, too.
